In the process, participants are challenged to greater community involvement. The objectives of Leadership Olathe are accomplished through a series of eleven educational sessions, which cover a broad spectrum of community issues. Program resources include civic leaders, government officials, educators, and experts from a variety of fields. Participants develop an in-depth understanding of the inter-relationships and complexities of the community, while broadening their communication and problem solving skills. Nearly 700 people have graduated from the Leadership Olathe program in its 27 years of existence—leaders making a difference in their communities, careers, churches, schools, and organizations. The 2008 Leadership Olathe program is a program of the Olathe Chamber of Commerce. Class members were selected based on recommendations and information provided through a lengthy application process. Olathe high school administrators chose the eight student participants. | |
